Who we are

Enchant Dance Academy is a children's dance school in Shoreham-by-Sea. Our address and email are on the contact page, how we handle your information is set out in the privacy notice, and the health and safety and safeguarding policies our teachers work to are published in full on the policies page.

Classes, terms and fees

Each class has a price per class, shown on each class page. A term fee is that figure multiplied by the number of lessons that class has in the term, so it is not the same in every term, and two classes in the same term can come to different amounts — a class on a Friday may have one lesson fewer than one on a Monday. Days we are closed, including half term and bank holidays, are not charged for. If you join after the term has started, you pay only for the lessons still to come, counted from the day you book, including a lesson that day — not for the whole term. The fee is shown, with the number of lessons it covers, before you pay.

Trial classes are free and carry no obligation to sign up. Each child may try every class they are old enough for, once each. You do not need an account to book one — we make one for you from the name and email address you give with the booking, so you can change or cancel it later without ever setting a password. Term dates, including half terms and the days we are closed, are set for the year.

If a class is full we keep a waiting list and offer places in the order names were taken. When a place is offered to you, you have three days to take it before it is offered to the next family.

A place in a weekly class is paid for by the term, through this website. When you start paying, the place is held for you while you do. If you leave the payment without finishing it, you can pick it up again from Your places in your account for as long as the hold lasts, at the price it was held at; if you do not finish, the hold lapses and the place goes back to the class.

Holiday camps and after-school clubs can be bought here too, in the same way: a place is held while you pay for it, and what you buy is the whole camp or block rather than a single day or session. A camp is one price for the run, whenever you join it. A club is charged by the session — what one session costs, times the sessions in that block, with the weeks it does not run already taken out, and only the sessions still to come if the block has already started — and both of those figures are shown to you before you pay. Not all of them are sold through the website — where one can be, the classes page shows a Book a place button against it; where you see a note about how to ask instead, that one is arranged with us directly.

Paying for a term, and leaving a class

  • Fees are payable in advance and strictly non-refundable under any circumstances, including illness, holidays or personal absences.
  • We cannot offer catch-up sessions, credits or substitute classes for missed sessions, because studio capacity is fixed.
  • To drop or leave a class, you must give written notice by email at least half a term in advance.
  • If half a term’s notice is not given before withdrawing, a £20 notice fee is charged.

Notice is given by email to contact@enchantdanceacademy.com. Nothing here affects your legal rights where the law gives you more than this policy does — including if we cancel a class, which is covered below.

Your account

There is no password. You give us your email address, we send a one-time link, and opening it signs you in. The link works for 30 minutes and once only. Keep your email account secure: anybody who can read your inbox can sign in as you.

If you booked a trial without signing in, an account was made for you at that moment from the name and email address you gave. The link we emailed you signs you in to it, and everything you told us is there to change, cancel or remove.

Anybody can create an account, and having one is not the same as being enrolled. Booking a term's place in a weekly class is for families in the school: we set that up ourselves, usually after a trial, and we can withdraw it, for example when a child stops attending. Holiday camps and after-school clubs need no account at all: you can book and pay for one straight from the camp's own page, and the account is made from the name and email address you give with the booking — unless we have said otherwise on the camp itself, in which case it is for families in the school. The parent contract does not apply to a camp or a club — it covers our weekly classes — so we do not ask you to agree it to book one. We do ask about photographs, and those answers are yours to give or withhold: they make no difference to the booking, and you can change them at any time on your account. Which room a class is in is shown to anybody signed in. You can close your account yourself at any time, on your account page — signing in again reopens it.

Buying uniform

Uniform is bought from our supplier's own shop at adb.mydancestore.co.uk, not from this website. Your order is with them, not with us. Their terms, their prices, their delivery, and their returns policy apply to it — please read them before you order. What each class needs is on the classes page; the sizes and prices are the supplier's own, in their shop.

What is bought on this site is a place — a term in a class, or a place on a holiday camp or a club — and our own merchandise from the shop. Card payments for all of them are handled by Stripe in their own secure form, and we never see or hold your card details. Your payment is only complete when our payment provider tells us so — returning to the site after paying is not, on its own, confirmation.

We also sell a few things of our own — club t-shirts and anything else in our shop. Those are sold by us rather than by the supplier: you pay for them on this website and we bring them to your next class. You do not need an account — we ask for your email address at the checkout so we can send you a receipt. Nothing is posted, and there is nowhere to collect from. What you can do if you change your mind about one is set out below.

We have tried to make our uniform as inclusive as we can however, we are limited by what our suppliers offer. Our Leotards are double lined, our tights are 70 denier, our Ballet Shoes are specifically designed for growing feet and our Tap Shoes have proper teletones for good sound quality and anti-slip rubber to prevent slips in the studio.

Changing your mind, and faulty items

Uniform is bought from our supplier at adb.mydancestore.co.uk, so changing your mind, returning something and anything faulty are all with them. Their terms apply, and the Consumer Rights Act gives you those rights against whoever sold you the item. We cannot refund or exchange something we did not sell you.

A term's place is bought on this website, and what you can expect if you stop attending, and what is owed, is set out under Classes, terms and fees above. A place on a holiday camp is bought the same way; if you need to cancel one, email us as soon as you can — and nothing here takes away any right the law gives you to cancel a booking made online.

Our own merchandise is different, because you buy it here. A club t-shirt, or anything else from our shop, is sold by us and paid for on this website — whether or not you have an account with us — so you have 14 days from the day you receive it to change your mind, for any reason at all, and we will refund what you paid. Tell us by emailing contact@enchantdanceacademy.com, and you can hand the item back at your next class rather than posting it anywhere.

If one of those is faulty, damaged or not what we described, the Consumer Rights Act gives you your rights against us, because we are the seller. Those rights last longer than the 14 days above and nothing here shortens them.

In the studio

This is what we ask of families. What our own staff are bound to do — the pre-class checks, first aid, the fire procedure and collecting a child — is our health and safety policy, and how we protect children from harm is our safeguarding policy. Both are published in full.

The studio is inside a communal building, and our staff cannot supervise anywhere outside the studio space. Please stay on site during class unless your child has permission to go to the toilet on their own, which you tell us when you register them and can change at any time.

Please arrive five to ten minutes before class starts. There is no need to warm up — we do that together — but please come already in the right uniform, with hair in a neat low bun, ready to start. We ask children to treat their teachers, the other children and the building with respect. Bullying, gossip and disrupting a class are not tolerated.

Classes build week to week, so regular attendance matters — especially in the lead up to shows and performances, where one child missing affects the whole class and how quickly everybody learns the routine. We understand that some absences cannot be avoided, but please try not to book anything that overlaps with term-time lessons. If your child is going to miss a class, please email us in advance.

Each class has its own uniform and footwear — what yours needs is on the classes page — and hair should be in a neat low bun. Low rather than high is a practical requirement as well as a tidy one: a high bun gets in the way of rolls and floor work in acro. Dressing for class is a safety requirement rather than a formality — a child who is not dressed safely for the class may not be able to take part in it.

For safety, no jewellery or watches are worn in class apart from small stud earrings, and jumpers and cardigans are not worn so we can check posture and alignment.

Please put anything you need to ask us in an email to contact@enchantdanceacademy.com. Teachers cannot answer questions in the few minutes before or after a class — they are teaching, and supervising children.

Health. Dance and acro are physical activities and carry the ordinary risk of injury that comes with them — acro in particular involves inversions, rolls, balances and supported partner work. Please tell us in writing, before your child takes part, about any medical condition, allergy, injury, or additional or learning need — and tell us again if anything changes. We cannot keep a child safe around something we have not been told about. What we do with what you tell us is set out in the privacy notice.

We may ask a child to sit out or leave a class where their behaviour puts themselves or another child at risk. We may also suspend or end a place where these terms are repeatedly broken, where fees are unpaid, or where behaviour puts the safety or wellbeing of the studio at risk. Where we do, fees already paid for that term are not refunded. Nothing in this affects rights the law gives you beyond it.

Photographs and video

We photograph and film classes and shows only where a parent or carer has agreed to it, and the agreement is recorded for each child separately rather than for a family as a whole.

There are three separate answers, because they are three different things: whether we may take photographs and video at all, whether we may publish them with your child's face blurred, and whether we may publish them unblurred. You can say yes to one and no to another — publishing always requires permission to photograph in the first place, so a photograph we were never allowed to take is never published.

You can change any of these at any time, from your children in the members area. A change applies from the moment you make it; it cannot reach a photograph already printed in something, which is why we ask before rather than after.

If we cancel a class

The fees and notice terms above are about a place you decide not to use. If we cancel a class — illness, weather, a problem with the building — that is different: we will run it another time where we can, and where we cannot, that class is credited against your next term. You do not lose a class because we could not teach it.

If we cannot sort something out between us, you can take a complaint to Citizens Advice or to Trading Standards. We do not belong to an alternative dispute resolution scheme, and nothing here stops you taking a matter to court.
